Save time, avoid hassle, and become a more streamlined business with a tailored payroll solution with Bells Accountants in Surrey.

You’ve outgrown your old system and you need support from the right accountant in Surrey. You may have begun as an entrepreneur with only ambition and limited assets and as you’ve grown and taken on staff you’ve become increasingly embroiled in the complexities of payroll management. You’ve found the need for a helping pair of professional hands to assist you as your business scales up. You’ve also discovered just how complex your escalating payroll responsibilities are.

Even where you’re the only employee under a limited company, with a tax-efficient system of a small salary and set dividends, you still likely find payroll a task that saps your time and energy – two assets that would be better spent on your business, not on operations.

Thankfully, you’ve come across a team of accountants in Surrey who appreciate the challenges that you face.

You may have a current system in place, but still find payroll a drain on resources, tying up your staff and creating a headache when it comes to meeting legislation requirements.

The introduction of Real Time Information (RTI), which increased reporting obligations from annually to every payroll period, has also increased the pressure.

In either of the above instances, we can help. Our accountants in Surrey provide payroll services designed around the way in which you do business, not regimented payroll packages that you must fit into. Our services can be delivered weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, or each month. Here’s how we can help:

  • HMRC payroll registration.
  • Current system audit, ensuring your system is completely compliant and in line with legislation.
  • PAYE, National Insurance, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity and Statutory Paternity Pay.
  • Insightful reports that guide your business in relation to staff costs.
  • Payslips as hard copies or via email.
  • P14s, P35s and P60s and all year-end forms.
  • P11Ds and P11D(b)s in respect of benefits in kind.
  • Payment administration, including new starters, leavers, P45s, P46s, holidays, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Remuneration packages for employees, shareholders, and directors.
  • Advice on incentive schemes, salary sacrifice schemes, and bonuses.
  • The set-up and management of BACS for employees who remain paid correctly and on time.
  • Stand-alone service for those who don’t run payroll, such as P11D preparations and P35 year-end payroll returns.

Q: Do I have to have a payroll scheme?

A: If you are paying any individuals to assist you with your business and they meet HMRC’s guidance for what is deemed ‘employment’ rather than ‘self-employment’, then you will need to administer a payroll scheme to ensure they are being taxed appropriately. If you fail to do this you could be held responsible for the tax and national insurance that you should have deducted from them and passed over to HMRC. We can advise you on whether you require a payroll scheme, and if you do, run it for you in full, providing payslips for your staff, and even making the BACS payments into their accounts on pay day. If you are a one-man band limited company you may still benefit from setting up a payroll scheme to take advantage of the tax-free personal allowance you can pay yourself. We can look at your individual circumstances and advise on the best course of action.

Q: If I need someone to work for me are there any alternative ways to paying them other than using the PAYE system?

A: You may be eligible to pay some of your team on a self-employed basis which means they will be responsible for their own tax and national insurance payments. We can help you decide if anyone on your team meets the criteria and ensure that you fulfil your responsibilities as a business owner.
